sattva
[light, kindness, awareness]

There are three Aryuvedic gunas that exist in all beings of the world. The gunas determine the nature of all things, which is dependent on the ratio of all three. Of these are sattva, rajas, and tamas. Sattva embodies the soft, kind awareness, the pureness & connection of and to spirit, complete harmony. Rajas represents energy, passion, action, it attaches us to ego and drives our selfish desires. The third, tamas, possesses qualities of inertia, destruction, darkness leading to chaos and disconnects people from their spirit.

All of  these energies embody the objective of our creation.

Life would cease to exist without the presence of all three. Their purpose is to create a bondage, through desire, which leads to attachments and in turn keeps them bound to the world. The present dynamic of the world suggests a greater proportion of rajas & tamas, though sattva is ever present in all things.

Nurture this guna within you.
